Malév Hungarian Airlines is the Latest Airline to Select Travelport Rapid Reprice
Langley, UK,
12.12.2008
Malév Hungarian Airlines has implemented the industry’s leading automated ticket reissue product Travelport Rapid Reprice®, available exclusively from Travelport, one of the world’s leading IT solutions providers to the travel industry. Rapid Reprice reduces the time it takes agents to process itinerary changes and optimises revenue by accurately calculating changes to the ticket price.
Malév, Hungary’s flag carrier has now successfully implemented Rapid Reprice on both its website and for reservation staff in its call centres, allowing ticket transactions to be re-priced in both the English and Hungarian language.
Malév Head of Distribution, Andras Majoros, stated: “We selected Rapid Reprice because it offers flexibility, functionality and efficiency not available anywhere else in the industry. Travelport offered the solution we needed with Rapid Reprice because we carry over three million passengers and this product allows our staff and customers to speed up the process when making itinerary changes enhancing the overall customer experience.”
Travelport Vice President for Airline Business Development, Kevin Ficco, added: “We have a track record of working closely with airlines to help them improve the overall consumer experience, grow their revenue and achieve cost savings. Malév chose Rapid Reprice in preference to other products on the market because we offered them technology leadership in re-issue and refund processing and this was very valuable for their business.
“The integration of Rapid Reprice into the carrier’s website will also allow consumers to make their own changes online, putting them in control of their booking as well as reducing calls to Malév’s call centre.”
Travelport Rapid Reprice is used by top airlines around the world and can be implemented on all hosting platforms including Amadeus, Sabre, Worldspan, Galileo and Apollo. This year alone, more than 27 million transactions have been processed using Rapid Reprice, demonstrating the product’s unique functionality and scalability. Offering 11 “industry firsts” and two “industry exclusives”, it is available for implementation in all airline channels including airports, ticket offices, call centres, web sites and kiosks.

As a full-right member of oneworld, Malév supplies its passengers with all the services and benefits of the airline alliance.
The core of the airline’s fleet is formed by Next-Generation Boeing 737s. In addition, Malév operates smaller planes for regional traffic. The company is gradually upgrading its regional fleet with Q400 turboprops manufactured by plane-maker Bombardier Aerospace. The first four pre-owned Q400 turboprop aircraft – providing the perfect balance of passenger comfort and operating economics with the lowest environmental footprint – will join the Hungarian national fleet from the 2008/2009 winter schedule, possibly to be followed by four new models coming into service from 2012.
This modern fleet allows the Hungarian airline to provide its customers with high standards, and it also permits highly efficient operation.
