Travelport GDS Announces Changes to Its Commercial Management Team
Langley, UK,
23.04.2009
Travelport GDS, one of the world’s leading providers of global distribution systems operating both the Galileo and Worldspan platforms, has today outlined a number of high profile management changes within its global commercial division, headed up by chief commercial officer, Armin Meier.
With overall responsibility for leading Travelport GDS’s commercial division, Meier’s functional responsibilities include heading up sales, marketing, product and customer service and support within the business.
The key management changes announced today include:
Patrick Lukan, who has been leading the UK & Ireland team since 2005, has been named vice president, global e-commerce, reporting into president and managing director of the Americas region, Travis Christ. In his new role, Lukan will be responsible for continuing to build the company’s growing e-commerce business in the Americas region as well as managing its largest e-commerce customers on a global basis. Lukan joined Travelport in 2005 having spent the previous 21 years working in a number of senior roles in the U.S., Asia and Europe for both Sabre and American Airlines.
Meanwhile, Jérôme Moisan, who formerly headed up Travelport GDS’s French operation will succeed him as general manager for the UK & Ireland. Before joining Galileo in 2002, Moisan gained extensive experience working in the UK travel industry for British Airways, SAS, KLM and Worldspan and outside of the travel industry for BT (British Telecom). Based in Travelport GDS’s global HQ in the UK, Moisan will start his new role in mid-May and report into Olaf Gueldner, president and managing director of Europe and Brazil. Emmanuel Bourgeat was named as Moisan’s successor in France earlier in the year.
Mark Meehan, who previously had responsibility for the company’s global commercial operations, has re-located to Travelport GDS’s Middle East and Africa headquarters in Dubai with responsibility for building on the company’s already strong presence in Africa. In his new role, he reports into Bryan Conway, president and managing director, Middle East and Africa. Before joining Galileo in 1999, Meehan held a number of finance and operational roles in the telecommunications sector.
Jason Clarke replaces Mark to head up the global commercial operations function and will have overall responsibility for the ongoing delivery of the company’s service and support to its customers. Clarke also previously held the position of general manager, UK & Ireland for Galileo and more recently led the company’s sales, strategy and planning team. He now reports directly into Meier.
Armin Meier, chief commercial officer, commented: “Since joining Travelport last year, I have been impressed by the strength and depth of talent and strategic flair that exists in this business. I strongly believe these new appointments both support the individuals concerned in their ongoing career development and also leverage their extensive skills and experience to ensure we deliver the highest standards to our customers.”
