Travelport Low-Cost Carrier Participation (LCCP)

Booking low cost carriers via the Galileo GDS is four times faster than carrying out the same transaction through an airline’s own website.

Travelport’s Low Cost Carrier (LCC) participation solution provides Galileo subscribers with a fully integrated, cost-efficient method for shopping and booking low-cost carrier content through the GDS. It provides a faster, more efficient and centralised method of finding low fares, eliminating the need to laboriously search the Web and other sources to find the best available low fares.

Low Cost Carrier growth continues to outstrip that of traditional airlines with LCC seats now accounting for over 25% of the European aviation market.

Highlights

  • Through Travelport’s API connector, we can directly link content from low-cost airlines into the Galileo host environment for shopping, booking and ticketless travel.
  • Travelport connects to all different types of agencies, including travel management companies, tour operators and multinational travel agencies. Galileo-connected business and leisure travel agencies have access to low-cost carrier content and functionality to provide their customers a full-service offering, including options for baggage and priority boarding.
  • Travelport’s Low Cost Carrier solution delivers multiple content options integrated in the Galileo GDS and unmatched capability to book traditional and low-cost carriers, as well as other suppliers, such as car rentals and hotels - all in a single booking.

Workflow

  • Agents can efficiently search and book low-cost flights within a robust environment that includes the inventories of more than 450 traditional airlines, as well as availability and products from 28,000 car rental locations and 83,000 hotels worldwide that participate in the Galileo GDS.
  • The Galileo platform offers complete integration of low-cost carrier content via the core Galileo GDS, including automated hand-off of low-cost carrier booking data to travel agency mid- and back-office systems.
  • Low-cost carrier flights are returned along with those of traditional airlines and other GDS segments, like Car and Hotel, as part of the normal Galileo booking process. For example, a booking can be made outbound on British Airways and inbound on easyJet – all under the same PNR.
  • Availability and fare information is up-to-the-minute, reliable and accurate, since airline inventory and booking confirmations are obtained in real time, directly from an airline’s internal reservations system.
  • Amend & cancel functionality allows agents to easily make changes to passenger names, travel segments or optional services in a previously booked LCC reservation, or cancel an LCC reservation – directly in the Galileo GDS.
  • Easy-to-use standard GDS format entries minimise agency training needs.
