Travelport GDS Debuts Enhanced and Exclusive Southwest Airlines Booking Capabilities to Bolster Operational Effectiveness for U.S. and Canadian Customers
Langley, UK,
19.06.2008
Travelport GDS, one of the world’s leading providers of global distribution systems (GDS), today announced details of enhanced and exclusive booking capabilities for Southwest Airlines to U.S. and Canadian customers using the Apollo system. The automatic return of Southwest ticket numbers and the ability to input Rapid Rewards frequent flyer numbers are exclusive enhancements for Apollo system subscribers in the United States and Canada. These booking enhancements are unavailable on any other GDS and are designed to bolster operational effectiveness for customers booking Southwest Airlines.
Southwest Airlines will now automatically return the ticket number with each booking made in the Apollo system—a key productivity enhancement for agency reporting and reconciliation. Apollo agencies in the U.S. and Canada can now provide increased service levels to their customers through accurate and efficient reporting.
Southwest Airlines has also completed the development effort to allow subscribers to enter the Rapid Rewards numbers of their travelers so that this information can be automatically transferred from the GDS to Southwest with each booking, ensuring accurate collection and tracking of the Rapid Rewards numbers.
“Travel agents subscribing to the Apollo system now have access to exclusive tools to increase their efficiency in booking Southwest Airlines through the GDS,” said Jean Collier, vice president, Supplier Services, Travelport GDS. “We are pleased to offer our customers these booking capabilities that are not available on any other GDS.”
Note to Editors: The Apollo system is operated by Travelport GDS and is used by travel agencies in North America and Japan.
