Role & Team

 
You will come on board at a truly exciting time, and as a member of the *Global Solutions Delivery team; you will play a pivotal and crucial part in performing Travelport Host to Host Links implementations and second level support across all Travelport Core solutions. You will have an opportunity to work directly with our airline, hotel and car suppliers as well as internal commercial teams.
JOB PROFILE COMPONENTS
 
This Software Development Engineer II position will involve…

  • Host to Host Links supply the majority of the Travelport content required for any Air, Hotel or Car shopping of booking activity.

  • This position is responsible for developing, configuring and implementing new and existing links with Air, Hotel and Car suppliers.

  • This position is also responsible for second level SME support for Host to Host Links.

  • Applies advanced knowledge of development principles and concepts to design key component(s) for at least one product.

  • Understands impact on adjacent systems as well as short- and long-term impact of technical decisions.

  • Ensures high quality code is delivered that meets specifications.

  • Proactively identifies opportunities to improve delivery of daily work.

  • Champions needs of customer community and user experience enhancement.

  • Acts as technical point of contact for a subset of larger project.

  • Complies with standard and best practices within application delivery.

  • Coaches/mentors others in application, platform, and/or global architectural standards.

  • Actively engages in and readily adapts to software development engineering best practices.

Your background will consist of…
 
Education / Technical Skills:

  • 2- or 4-year degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or combination of experience and education preferred.

  • 3 or more years of z/TPF experience with experience in IATA Host to Host protocol, TCP/IP Sockets as well as EDIFACT messages.

  • Other technical knowledge preferred: Websphere MQ, AIX or Linux.

  • Experience with Galileo, Apollo or Worldspan helpful.

  • Experience developing, deploying or supporting commercial, customer facing solutions (either distributed or mainframe applications).

  • Experience in Quality Assurance, software development, project management, operations and other technical areas strongly preferred.

  • Understands and uses Travelport SDLC and group specific metrics and processes. 

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel PowerPoint) Visio as applicable.

  • Practical knowledge of using Microsoft Project as a planning tool and working in a Project Server Environment.

  • Experience of Jira for Requirements/ Story management and work management tools (eg: KANBAN if applicable to area).
