Travelgroup, servicing 37 travel agencies across Brussels and Wallonia, and GigaTour, servicing a group of over 100 independent French-speaking travel agencies across Brussels and Walloon, provide their members with central purchasing offices for their leisure and business travel agencies. Consortium agencies have used Travelport’s cutting-edge technology including its industry leading point of sale solution, Travelport Smartpoint, to give its consultants a competitive-edge and create operational efficiencies for over 25 years.
Travelport is able to help consortium members set themselves self apart in the market by providing its consultants and online channel with real-time access to content from over 400 airlines, 650,000 hotel properties and 35,000 car rental locations. Furthermore, with nearly 250 airlines signed up to use Travelport’s unique merchandising technology, consortium members are able to display, gain powerful information around, and sell branded fare families and ancillary products (such as paid seat assignments, baggage fees, priority boarding, etc.) from these airlines.
Consortium agencies will also continue to use Travelport Rapid Reprice, which is redefining the complex function of re-pricing a travel itinerary by providing a faster, convenient and more flexible ticketing experience, especially when travellers require a change in their itinerary.
Having recently become the first global distribution system (GDS) to be certified by IATA as a “Level 3” Aggregator under its New Distribution Capability (NDC) initiative, Travelport will soon further benefit the consortiums by creating NDC connections with airlines as they become available.
