ETTSA was launched in 2009 to represent and promote the interests of global distribution systems (GDSs) and travel distributors, towards the industry, policy-makers, opinion formers, consumer groups and all other relevant European stakeholders. The association, based in Brussels, encourages and supports full transparency, fair competition and consumer choice in the travel distribution chain.

Travelport is an allied member of ECTAA, the European Travel Agents’ and Tour Operators’ Associations. ECTAA is the group of national travel agents’ and tour operators’ associations within the EU. It actively cooperates with European Union institutions and international organizations to ensure that members’ interests and special requirements are taken into consideration.
Travelport supports Open Allies for Airfare Transparency. Open Allies is a coalition of nearly 400 independent distributors and sellers of air travel, corporate travel departments, travel trade associations and consumer organizations that believe air travelers should be able to see, compare and buy the total price of their airfare.
Travelport is a board member of the Global Travel and Tourism Partnership (GTTP). The GTTP is a multi-country educational program designed to introduce students to career opportunities in travel and tourism. To date, more than a million and a half students in twelve countries have participated in the GTTP. School systems provide teachers and classrooms; local and international companies provide financial and in-kind support.
