BCD Travel’s TripSource® wins gold at the Stevie Awards

Communicating with travelers in real-time has never been more important, and the COVID-19 pandemic has shown that mobile is one of the most effective channels to do so. BCD Travel has always been at the forefront of mobile innovation in the travel management company (TMCs) market. This was proved once again with its redeveloped mobile app TripSource winning Gold in the Stevie Awards for the ‘App and Mobile Website — Travel’.

TripSource — developed in partnership with Travelport - allows business travelers to receive timely and relevant info about their journeys to help them stay safe and informed. Providing guidance and reassurance is paramount right now, so the company has enhanced the TripSource messaging program to help travelers understand their options, make decisions, and to navigate corporate travel.

Why BCD Travel reimagined the business travel experience

Despite being one of the highest-rated global TMC apps, and live in app stores for five years, BCD Travel wanted to be able to move faster. In partnership with Travelport, the team conducted extensive interviews and usability testing with business travelers, investigating their habits, thought processes, and ultimately their needs. Checking back in with real people made it possible for BCD to better understand the pain points they encountered while traveling for business. Rebuilt from the ground up, the next generation of its TripSource app went live in July 2019.

Creating a world-class, traveler-focused experience

The newly redesigned app is making the business travel experience more immersive and informative at every step of the journey. This is achieved by marrying self-service functionality with a steady feed of timely information. The traveler can ‘search, book, and go’ within minutes. They will be informed in real-time of any changes to their existing travel plans with in-line notifications and timeline messages guiding them at every step of their journey.

Going for Gold

Despite the tough business conditions, organizations like BCD Travel continue to demonstrate their commitment to innovation, creativity, and bottom-line results. “This year’s Stevie-winning nominations are full of inspiring stories of persistence, ingenuity, resourcefulness, and compassion,” said Stevie Awards president Maggie Gallagher. Judges said they were impressed with BCD Travel’s submission and praised the app, as “Elegant… with a great set of features including trip management, self-service, and smart notifications.” Thus winning Tripsource the gold in the ‘App and Mobile Website – Travel’ category.
