What’s your favourite travel destination in the world?
Japan. The more time I spend there, the less I feel I truly know it, and that mystery will have me chasing a better understanding for the rest of my life.
Have you had any holiday nightmares?
I (unintentionally) got tangled up in a fight in the medieval market in Aleppo, Syria. Still, I’m so grateful to have road-tripped through Syria – a place full of great wonder and history!
Plan everything or keep it flexible?
I like to have enough of a plan to know I won’t miss key sites, but the flexibility to change at a moment’s notice or roll with whatever curveballs get thrown at me. I spent a month in Peru and was so enamored of the hotel where I stayed in Machu Picchu, I changed all of my domestic flights to visit to the Amazon, where the hotel had another beautiful property.
Thinking back to your first work trip, where did you go and why?
To New Orleans to sign up hotels for a new last-minute deals platform in the late ‘90s. This was back when there were only paper tickets. My boss asked me to hold her ticket for a moment en route to the airport, and I ended up putting it in my bag with mine. She wasn’t able to get on her flight home. Needless to say, that was a very embarrassing first work trip for me!
If I wasn’t part of Travelport’s SLT, I’d be…
An interior designer, finding one-of-a-kind objects around the world for my clients (and for me)!
